Bird River has joined forces with Divestco on a cogeneration initiative focused on the conversion of natural gas to electricity at an industry low cost of 1.4 cents per kilowatt hour (based on current natural gas spot prices). Utilizing state-of-the-art boiler-turbine equipment, all regulatory approvals and a secured long-term gas supply are in place to feed up to 3 megawatts of electricity into the power grid.
The province of Alberta is experiencing a trend to more renewable energy sources and the transition away from coal fired generation. As a result, it is expected that electricity costs will spike up causing heavy electrical users to potentially look for more cost-efficient options.
Bird River provides an ideal solution with the potential for substantial growth by providing an exceptionally low cost of electricity at 1.4 cents per kilowatt hour (compared to the Canadian industry average cost of approximately 6 cents per kilowatt hour).
